The Aboriginal Summer Literacy Camps project enables kids age 5 to 12 from nine Cree communities to attend a four-week summer camp to develop their literacy and math skills for the new school year. Creative and arts activities such as reading, fine arts, music, theater, and outdoor games allow children to play with words and numbers. Community members and elders are also invited to make presentations, and community events are organized. The team of facilitators is made up of Cree from the community and individuals from southern Québec to make it easier to share knowledge and skills associated with staying in school and interact with kids in both languages (Cree and English).
