In March 2014, Conseil des Abénakis de Wôlinak opened a library for students and all members of the community. The Council focuses on reading and culture as remedies for social exclusion. The Abenaki library has over 2,500 books, manuals, teaching and other material, and a research area with computers. Various activities are also organized for students and their families, such as a reading club combined with homework assistance, talks, and awareness workshops (violence at school, homophobia, substance use, gambling, and sex education). Through the library creation project, the project managers developed a tool kit including an Abenaki cultural component to help parents support their children in their academic progress.
